Need a female live-in aide/companion for my 68-year-old wife. She had a stroke in April of 2005. She no longer walks. She speaks with mild impairment. She has most of her cogitative skills lacking mainly dates and times. She is occasionally incontinent. She needs assistance transferring from bed to bedside commode and back. She needs help to practice standing and range of motion exercises. We hope she will get back to walking with her four footed cane. She needs assistance with ADL. She is 5'4" and about 150 pounds. In addition position requires light house keeping and some cooking. Also driving her to appointments and helping her shop occasionally. Power chair is on order. I live in the home and take care of my wife when her aide/companion is not there. I am 10 years younger than she is and in excellent physical shape. However, I have several businesses to run during the day. I am also gone several evenings a month on City business. New companion will need to be available business days, some evenings and part of the weekend. Occasionally I will be out of town for several days. There will be plenty of time off. Current aide/companion is returning to Graduate School approx June 1. We provide a private suite for aide/companion in a large house on Lake Lewisville. Full house privileges; Room and Board; and a car. $300 a week salary. Package exceeds $30,000.00 if it was fully taxable. Aide/companion must be willing to undergo background check. I have worked with home agencies before. Worked at assisted living facility. Basically, my duties with the home agency was, going to a client house and take care of them. Such as, cooking, cleaning, giving medication, assisting with showers, dressing, changing their depends when it's wet and changing their bed. I did the same thing with the assisted living but slightly different. I worked night shift. I cover two floors myself and it is my responsibilities to take care of all the residence and get them whatever they need when they call me. I did laundry, take blood pressure and I have to check on them every two hours to make sure that no resident is on the floor. In the facility that I worked for, they have the Alzheimer's area. Most of the time, I worked there. My expectation for this position is to be able to work 12 hours shift if available and it has to be night shift. I will not work for less than 10 dollars an hour. I can work for 10 dollars and up. | ||

I have worked for 3 years in the prescription and medical industry dealing with benefit companies serving their customers and employees with dignity, respect, and compassion in all areas. I find myself wishing to help our countries elderly more and more each day but my job currently does not allow me to go beyond their benefits. In certain situations if need shows itself I can request that a certain person or benefits member is looked upon by an agency that deals with more serious matters such as depression or financial help or mobility assistance but I myself don't actually get to see that it is done. This bothers me because each and everyday that I'm on the phone it seems as though I deal with more people who need help that, given my position, I can't apply. It seems that with the upcoming changes in government that are to effect the health industry that this trend will continue and more people will be confused and disgruntled with dealing with their benefits. I've been w/her 6 months and I greatly enjoy this type of "work". I'm looking for more evening shifts, especially Friday & Saturday evenings would be great. I'm unable to do live-in because I have young kids at home and I need to be home during the day while my husband is at work. I would get there and help the lady get dressed, help wash her face, then take her dog out to use the restroom. I would come back in the house and cook a light breakfast for her, then sit down on the table and talk and read the newspaper. When the afternoon came she would lay down to take nap.
