I got into healthcare because I love being able improve the lives of others. I believe everyone deserves compassion and to be treated with dignity and respect. I take my time getting to know my clients personally letting them know I do what I do because I care not only as a job. I understand that having a stranger come in to your home losing your sense of independence and privacy can be a very emotional experience. I try to be as considerate as possible respecting my clients feelings and needs. I want my clients to feel independent while providing the best possible care. My experience includes CPR training, medication distribution and first aid certification, and CNA training. I have experience with seizures, Parkinsons disease, dementia, MS, post polio, cancer, arthritis and Alzheimers. I can assist clients with therapy routines, ostomy and catheter care, g-tubes, tracheotomys, diabetes, meal preparation, personal care, pain management, wound care, and IV care.

My first experience with care giving started when I moved in with a man who was 84. That was in the spring of 2004. I assisted him with whatever he needed help with and whatever he could not do. I cooked occasional meals, did some shopping, house cleaning, yard work such as lawn mowing, landscaping, & gardening. I also enjoyed sitting with him for an hour or 2, or 3, in the evening watching TV and talking. He appreciated my help and my company and I found it very rewarding. I stayed with him until the spring of 2008 when he moved to a retirement home. Then, I was a live in care giver for a 92 yr. old man who broken his leg. I assisted him with dressing, toileting, mobility/transferring Dr. appointments, dog walking, occasional meals & house cleaning. His wife was there & she cooked most of his meals and I filled in on occasions. As he recovered & needed less help, I assisted his neighbor with house cleaning, shopping, yard work etc. I have 16 months more exp. after that also.

I do not have any trained experience in working with the eldrely, but I am willing to train for it. I used to help my grandparents out all the time from taking them to a doctors appointment to getting their daily medication ready for them at the begining and end of the day. I have always been told I would do good working with the elderly and I need a place to start.

Presently I am working for a company called Community Access Unlimited, working with under priviledge people-both young and old. I am truly passionate with what I am doing, I love helping, taking care of people. The needs of people are important, especially those who could not able to express themselves, I advocate for them, do budgeting for them, cook, clean, take them to Dr's appointment, shopping, recreation, home visit, consultation, counseling, medication administered, take them on a trip and more and interesting things to do with them. I have been doing this for a year and everyday I wake up, I keep loving my job because I feel, I am giving so much back to people in assisting and teaching more about life. In all that I do, they come first in my daily activity.
