Title & Description
- Title
- CAREGIVER & PROJECT MANAGER & FRIEND
- Description
- THE POSITION: You will work with a husband & wife in their 80s (our parents). Both are totally “with it” (smart, well read, funny, “big” personalities & salt of the earth people) –in good, overall physical condition with some mobility issues. Father still drives & is very independent. Mother requires some personal care assistance but neither have any serious medical issues at this time. Large family & a daughter who lives nearby and is very active with parents’ lifestyle/care & will support & partner with this person closely. We are looking for someone who truly understands, values & “lives” our family goal as it relates to this job: e.g. for our parents to continue to maintain an independent, high quality lifestyle at home. We are searching for a “take charge,” “stand-alone” individual - someone we can depend upon 24/7 (on call) but who will have part-time support, as needed as well. Ideally person will work 6 days/week – roughly 12 hour days. That said, there is some downtime during the day. Person will work hard and long hours but this job is more lifestyle driven versus caring for an ill or terminal patient. Individual will manage a part-time staff (night nurse and back-up/support person) at this time. We’ve interviewed a boatload of people thus far & haven’t found that “special” individual (e.g. caretaker, administrator, manager and friend – someone who’ll embed in the family & be treated as an adopted family member versus an employee). Your predecessor (our dear friend & a special member of this family, has been with us 8 years & will train her replacement). Loyalty & longevity resonate with this family; it works BOTH ways. The person we hire must be strong (physically & mentally) & bridge high-level responsibilities with the day-to-day, more routine tasks that are required to fulfill this role. Individual must have proven leadership, administrative & managerial qualities - yet willingly be able to roll-up-their sleeves, get in the trenches, work hard & multi-task to get the job done. Person must, also, work smart, proactively and efficiently & will “take charge” as it relates to managing a household, a part-time homecare staff, appointments & projects for our parents – etc.). Administrative responsibilities will span coordinating a calendar to scheduling appointments (e.g. nurse visits, physical therapy, doctor visits etc.) to overseeing additional staff (house cleaner, part time caretakers, maintaining a staffing schedule & time sheets). Individual will provide basic home health/caretaker duties such as assistance to our Mother in her morning routine, daily laundry, light cleaning, shopping, physician appointments & meal prep (fresh, healthy, delicious meals). Should enjoy cooking and be open to learning how to cook for our parents – this is VERY IMPORTANT. Family is in Boca Raton, FL presently through end of May, 2009 when they will return to their just south of Boston, MA home for the summer/fall - then back to Boca Raton for the winter. If caregiver is willing to travel, will have the option of working in both locations with family (Boston position requires a live-in; travel & living expenses included).
